Water pumped resevoir: 440 MW Taum Sauk plant in Missouri

Water is one of the most powerful elements in the world. Water can be both destructive and helpful to human beings. One main help that water provides for people is that it can be converted to hydroelectric power. This power source is somewhat unlimited because rain is the main source of this, plus, the world is made up mostly of water.

A unique hydroelectric power station, which is Taum Sauk Power Station, is put up 80 kilometers from the Mississippi river. This is quite unusual simply because these structures are typically located near dams or bodies of water where the power source is near. This station is built on top of the mountain river of St. Louis Missouri Ozarks.
This power station serves as pumped storage and assists during situations of high electricity demand. It utilizes a kidney shaped reservoir that is connected to turbines. During night time, the left over electricity from the power station aids in pumping water back to the mountain. Due to its structural design, tourists also go here to observe the architectural masterpiece.
The reservoir has been very helpful and advantageous for the community.

1 Gibbs Quadski

 Introducing first the Gibbs Quadski which is an amphibious vehicle that can function as one’s own personalized watercraft and ATV. It was first unveiled during October of 2012 by Gibbs Sports Amphibians. This Quadski is a 4-stroke, amphiquad which transforms into a personalized watercraft. On both land and water it boasts speeds of up to 72 km/h (45 mph), wheel retraction and a trademarked aquatic jet propulsion system. The Quadski is able to changeover between water and land in roughly five seconds. It makes use of Giffs’ High Speed Amphibian (HSA) innovation and consists of more than 300 patents and ones that are pending all around the world.

The first public sales for this German Amphica amphibious automobile were first made to the public market in 1961. This SeaRoader is the world’s preliminary Amphibious Lamborghini and is a mid-motored (for ballast) Lamborghini Countach that has been modified by Mike Ryan who is an aquatecht for SeaRoader. “If it’s got wheels, I’ll make it float!” Ryan boasted after he customized it to become amphibious. Mike Ryan has additionally transformed other vehicles into water-going ones such as motorcycles, jeeps, an ice cream van and even a London taxi. As expected, it’s quite expensive to convert a nice luxurious sports car into one that is amphibious. Mike Ryan stated that the glass by itself came at a cost of around $3,007. When the Countach is in the water, its frontal hydrofoil elevates the nose while the hydraulic activators compress the suspension Formula 1-designed system.

The Amazing Walk-in Roller Coaster: Artistic Duo Create Interactive Sculpture

The amazing “Tiger & Turtle – Magic Mountain” sculpture sits in Duisburg, Germany, reaching heights of more than 45m above ground. Designed to appear as a “walk-in” rollercoaster, visitors can access fantastic views of Western Ruhr by climbing the steep flights of stairs which make up this unique piece of art.

The interactive sculpture is the creation of artistic duo Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth, constructed over a one year period. Open to the public from 13th November 2011, the sculpture is accessible day and night, lined with LED lights to make for a stunning view in the dark.

“Having a closer look [at this part], the public is disappointed in a disarming way,” said the artists of their work. “The sculpture subtly and ironically plays with the dialectic of promise and disappointment, mobility and standstill.”
