Horse That Shine Like Gold - Akhal-Teke

We are referring, of course, to the Akhal-Teke, a breed best known for the natural metallic bloom of their coats. But do you know what is responsible for their signature sheen?

History
The Akhal-Teke is a breed that was developed less than 3,000 years ago. The exact date this breed was created is not known, but it said to be around 3000-4000 B.C. It was thought to have originated in Turkmenistan and was known to be a national emblem for the country. The breed was named after the "Teke" tribe in Central Asia. Unfortunately, this breed is the only purebred left from the ancient Turkmen horse. The Akhal Teke was uniquely bred for its stamina and endurance, as well as its ability to travel along far distances in the desert. It has been kept a purebred for thousands of years and is still considered one to this day.  Today, the Akhal Teke is found all over the world, still known for its endurance and strength. This breed will be seen racing, as well as dressage. This history of this breed is still being greatly studied today.

Characteristics
The Akhal Teke's physical characteristics are much different than many breeds. First noticed would be their gold, metallic coat, thought to serve as camouflage in the desert. However, not every horse of the Akhal Teke breed has a gold coat. The colors of their shimmery coat comes in numerous shades of black, brown, and gold. The necks are long and flexible with larger eyes and ears. The mane and tails of this breed are silky with short hair. The Turkmen tribes cherished the Akhal Teke due to its ability to travel on harsh terrain through deserts and mountains with challenging climates. In ranges in size from about 13 to 16 hands which is similar to its descendant, the English Thoroughbred. The Akhal Teke has a quiet and passionate personality and is said to develop a bond with their owner that is similar to a dog. This horse is a loyal companion that can be easily handled and trained.

Awesome Skeletal Cutlery Sets

Andre Lassen's Skeletal Cutlery Makes Eating Breakfast Badass

I am willing to wager that when the devil sets his table, he uses André Lassen's Skeletal Cutlery. Lassen is a Dutch artist who specializes in making all sorts of macabre and badass weapons, furniture and jewelry pieces.

Despite the inherent creepiness of a fork and spoon modeled after human remains, I do have to admit that the Skeletal Cutlery set is incredibly edgy. Lassen has completely redesigned forks, knives and spoons for the better.

Each of these pieces look like they could be used to fight off hungry demons or siblings, whichever you happen to come across first. The Skeletal Cutlery set is available for purchase and sells for the princely sum of $1,444 for the complete set or $577 per piece.

Awesome Upside - Down Car Turns Driving Literally on Its Head

Jeff Bloch, a.k.a. Speedycop, is an American race-car enthusiast who likes to create all sorts of crazy contraptions for the popular 24-hour LeMons Race. His latest achievement – an upside-down vehicle he describes as “a frightening fusion of a wretched 1990 Ford Festiva and a horrible 1999 Chevy Camaro, with a not-so-subtle twist”.

Just two months after making headlines with a Cessna airplane converted into a race car, Jeff Bloch is in the spotlight once again, this time with a ridiculous upside-down car. To create this one-of-a-kind freak on wheels, he stripped off the Fiesta’s body and replaced it with the upside-down carcass of the Chevy Camaro. So he is basically driving a Ford Fiesta that looks like an inverted Camaro.

The Ford’s underpowered 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine has thus been saddled with the body of the much larger car, including the extra set of wheels, making it easy prey during a race. But then again, Speedycop didn’t really build it to win the LeMons, just the attention and admiration of his fellow motorheads.

Meet Giant George - The World’s Tallest Dog

After a publicity campaign started by his owner and a bunch of fans, George, a Great Dane from Tucson, Arizon received the rightful title of World’s Tallest Dog.

After Gibson, a Great Dane from California and the previous holder of the Guinness World Record for tallest dog past away from bone cancer, George’s owner David Nasser tried to get his dog to be named successor. However, due to errors in paperwork and measurements, the title went to Titan, another Great Dane, from California.

But David Nasser wouldn’t let his beloved pet be deprived of what was rightfully his, and together with Giant George’s fans started a publicity campaign. Their efforts paid off, and after careful measurements it was decided 43-inch-tall George was indeed the world’s tallest dog, and not 42.25-inch Titan.

Giant George weighs 250 lbs, sleeps in his very own king-size bed and can barely fit in the back of his owner’s SUV. He even has his very own website and has become a certified celebrity.

Amazing Lamborghini Aventador Model Made Entirely Out of Paper and Cardboard

Seattle-based designer Taras Lesko has spent the last few months building a nearly-life-size replica of the Lamborghini Aventador exclusively out of printing paper and cardboard.

We first featured Taras Lesko’s paper masterpieces back in 2010, shortly after he had completed his amazing 4-foot-tall Freedom Gundam. In 2011 he surprised us all again with an even more impressive 7-foot Gundam made with 1,250 distinct paper parts cut out of 720 pages.

Taras took a two-year-long break after that, but he has recently unveiled his latest work of art, a stunning paper-and-cardboard replica of the Lamborghini Aventador sports car.

Using his design skills, the Seattle-based artist created all the necessary parts in computer programs like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and AfterEffects, printed them on hundreds of sheets of paper and used a precise X-Acto knife to cut them loose. To make sure his paper Aventador was sturdy enough to move around, Lesko used thick chipboard as a frame for the ultra-light vehicle which weighs just 11.3 kilograms.

Japanese Artist Uses Toothpicks and a Spoon to Create Amazing Banana Sculptures

Keisuke Yamada is a self-taught Japanese artist who takes plain bananas and turns them into edible masterpieces. Using only a spoon and toothpicks the talented food artist works against the clock, trying to finish his pieces before the fruit begins to oxidize.

Sculpting bananas is not easy. The fragile texture of the fruit and the fact that you can’t add more material to cover up a mistake like you would with clay makes it a very difficult material to work with. And that’s exactly what makes 26-year-old Keisuke Yamada’s art so special.

It all began little over two ears ago when he peeled a banana and thought it would be interesting to carve something into it. His first creation was a simple smiling face, but he received such a positive reaction from art fans that he felt inspired to pursue the idea further. Using only a spoon to prime the banana by smoothing its surface and toothpicks for carving its flesh, Keisuke created an entire series of banana sculptures that won him international acclaim after the photos he uploaded to Japanese art site, Pixiv, went viral.

In his interviews with some of the largest sites in the world, Yamada revealed he works as an electrician by day, and becomes an expert banana carver during the night. He described the artistic process as a race against time, trying to finish his creations in less than 30 minutes after the peeled banana has been exposed to air. Taking too long causes the fruit to turn brown ruining the whole piece. Once he’s finished, he quickly takes a photo after which he eats the banana.
