Camaro, Mustang, Challenger Having an ‘Off Year’

You might want to think twice about buying a new muscle car from Dodge, Chevrolet or Ford this year.

Consumer Reports released its latest reliability survey last week and with the exception of a few surprises it was more of the same. Japanese automakers performed the best while the Detroit Three took a bit of a tumble.
Among other findings the sporty-car segment is one area of interest on this year’s survey. According to the consumer-focused magazine this is an especially volatile vehicle segment when it comes to quality. Supporting this claim are the latest scores.

Last year 13 of 16 sporty cars had at least average reliability or better. This year only 11 out of 21 made the grade, quite a back-slide.

Consumer Reports said “American muscle cars are having an off year.” That segment includes, of course, the Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang.

Against the odds Nissan’s 370Z topped the quality chart. Making this feat all the more impressive is that last year the two-door was Consumer Reports’ lowest-rated sporty car. It seems Nissan sorted things out in the quality department.

Of America’s three retro-themed road rockets only the Chevy Camaro and six-cylinder Mustang delivered average reliability, and by a small margin.  The bad-boy Challenger and the V8-powered ‘Stang were both below the statistical average for reliability.

In particular, the Dodge had a rough year. It plummeted from better-than-average to worse-than-average reliability thanks to squeaks and rattles as well as issues with its brakes and audio system.

The Camaro had trouble with body hardware including windows, door latches and seat controls. The Mustang GT on the other hand suffered from minor transmission issues.

Awesome " Dream Catcher " Tattoos

Dreamcatcher tattoos are a very popular tattoo symbol. Dreamcatcher tattoos are designed in several different variations and styles. The dreamcatcher is one of the most popular symbols of Native Americans. The dreamcatcher tattoo is popular and worn by all walks of life. Due to the colorful and unique design of the dreamcatcher tattoo, it has became a popular and well known design in the tattoo world.

The dreamcatcher tattoo has no set pattern and it can come in a large variety of different designs. This is one of the main reasons that the dreamcatcher tattoo is so popular among men and women.

Dreamcatcher tattoos can be designed with many different symbols and elements. In all honesty, there are many things you can choose from when you are considering your design. Most dreamcatcher designs have a loop with a web centered inside the loop. Feathers, beads, arrowheads, stones, crystals, and jewelry are also used to decorate the dreamcather. Jeep Wrangler Dragon Design Concept Bows at Beijing Auto Show

Judging from the series of releases at the Beijing Auto Show, China is far and away the most important market for global automakers. A trend first started by high-end luxury brands, Jeep is hopping on the bandwagon by introducing the Jeep Wrangler Dragon design concept, a China-market-exclusive vehicle that features a “dragon design” theme to commemorate the Chinese calendar’s Year of the Dragon.

“The Jeep brand is committed to China and therefore we must design and tailor our vehicles to the specific tastes and preferences of chinese consumers,” said Jeep Brand CEO and COO for Asia, Mike Manley.

Mechanically identical to a China-market Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, the Jeep Wrangler Dragon design concept features a gloss black paint scheme as well as a black body-color three-piece hard top. Trim pieces across the vehicle are plated in bronze-gold details including the grille slats, headlamp surrounds, golden accents on matte black wheels, as well as golden Jeep badging front and rear. Rather than the customary “Trail Rated” emblem aft of the front fenders, the special Dragon design concept proudly displays a golden Chinese character for “dragon” instead. Other golden trims include a pad-printed engine cover, bolts for the fuel-filler door and the taillamp assembly, and wheel center caps.

Finally, the Wrangler Dragon design concept makes the biggest statement with a tone-on-tone dragon decal that runs along the length of the vehicle as well as another dragon decal on the gloss-black spare tire cover. An LED exterior lighting package completes the luxurious tone of the bespoke Jeep Wrangler.

The theme continues in the interior as the Wrangler Dragon design features glossy piano black surfaces with golden highlights.

While only a design study, the Wrangler Dragon design concept seems essentially production ready. Depending on its reception at the Beijing auto show and the demand from the Chinese, Jeep just might make it a reality.

When You See What's Wrong With this Picture...OMG

Australian Floods Have Caused Spider Colonies to Migrate

Australia has recently found itself in the middle of a flooding fiasco which has caused roughly 13,000 people to abandon homes in low lying areas. But they are not the only living beings searching for higher ground, as even spiders have found their homes to be inadequate shelter from the extreme water levels. This has led to a miraculous phenomenon: spiders are occupying human farms and houses as if they were their own. What may first appear as snow or dew clearly becomes suffocating spider webs upon closer inspection. Known for their frightening amounts of poisonous species, Australians are not taking this critter invasion lightly.

 Why Spiders?

The question most Australian farm owners may be asking themselves is "Why did it have to be spiders?" Outside of possibly snakes riding a tidal wave and coating your house, there are not many animals you would like to invade your home less than spiders. These wolf spiders do not have very many redeeming qualities, either. It's not their fault because their appearance tends to be horrifying to the average human, but they are not going to be welcomed by many homeowners. For this reason we hope they migrate back to their homes safely without the farmers having to whip out the flamethrower for the old slash and burn.

Not Everybody Pays

A little old lady was walking down the street dragging two large garbage bags behind her. One of the bags was ripped, and every now and then, a $50 bill fell out onto the footpath.

Noticing this, a cop stopped her, and said, “Ma’am, there are $50 bills falling Out of that bag.”

“Oh, rats! Darn it!” said the little old lady. “I’d better go back and see if I can find them. Thanks for telling me officer..”

“Well, now, not so fast,” said the cop. “Where did you get all that money? You didn’t steal it, did you?”
“Oh, no, no”, said the old lady. “You see, my yard is right next to the baseball stadium parking lot. On game days, a lot of fans come and pee through a hole in the fence, right into my garden. It used to really annoy me and kills the flowers, you know. Then I thought, ‘why not make the most of it?’ So, now, on game days, I stand behind the fence by the knot hole, real quiet, with my shears. Every time some guy sticks his dingus through my fence, I surprise him, Grab hold of it and say, ‘O.K., buddy! Give me $50, or I cut off your johnson!”

“Well, that seems only fair,” said the cop, laughing. “OK. Good luck! Oh, by the way, what’s in the other bag?”

“Well, you know”, said the little old lady, “not everybody pays”

1969 Dodge Charger General Lee

They were just good ol’ boys, never meaning no harm, but for seven years, the Duke boys of Hazzard County made a weekly jump into the living rooms of millions of television viewers as they piloted a seemingly indestructible Dodge Charger affectionately called the General Lee.

During the run of this highly successful television series, it is estimated that as many as 320 (perhaps even more) 1968 to 1970 Chargers were catapulted across rivers, over police cars, through construction sites or anywhere else one could imagine a car flying in the air, only to succumb to the rather hard landings. One rumor was that towards the end of production, the supply of fresh General Lees had dried out and people who owned even the most derelict examples were able to raise the asking price, as the production company was desperately in need of cars.

There were survivors, however – the lucky few cars saved from the rigors of being chased by the dimwitted Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, who himself was being egged on by the greedy commissioner of Hazzard County, Boss Hogg. This General Lee is believed to be one of those original cars that was associated with the original television show.

“Dukes” fans will recall the original General Lee was of the 1969 vintage, as evidenced by the proper grille and taillights. Unlike the ’68 and ’70 cars that were modified, this particular Charger is a true 1969 example, as verified by its chassis number, and is finished in the traditional bright orange with a hand-painted rendition of the rebel flag on the roof and the instantly recognizable “01” numbers on the doors.

Under the hood is a vintage 383 big-block V8, which is the same type of engine this car left the factory with. It has been fitted with the proper after-market alloy wheels that were used during the filming as well as the custom push-bar to protect the grille. It is also equipped with five air-horns that play the whimsical opening bars from "Dixie" – another trademark highpoint of nearly every episode. The interior is finished in saddle tan vinyl just as it was when the Dukes were behind the wheel. In fact, the car even retains its correct push-button AM radio and the interior is generally quite stock in appearance, save for the roll bar of course.

Although no concrete evidence is currently available to confirm this car’s use in the television series, its authenticity is supported by the signatures of actor John Schneider (Bo Duke) and custom car builder for the stars, George Barris, whose company helped prepare many of the original “Generals” for the television show.

With the recent renewed interest for the Dukes of Hazzard in a feature length film, re-releases of the original shows on DVD and reunions across America to celebrate the original cast members of one of America’s best loved television shows, this car is sure to be in high demand and attract tremendous attention. All that’s required is to heed Schneider’s advice, written on the hood: “keep it ‘tween the ditches and shiny side up.”

This car was auctioned off by RM Auctions in September 2009 at the Petersen Automotive Museum, Los Angeles, California.

Awesome Alien - Predator Themed Motorcycle !

What if an Alien and a Predator decided to put aside their differences and have a baby? It sounds crazy, I know, but I’m guessing that’s what Roongrojna Sangwongprisarn had in mind when he built this mad-looking motorcycle.

Roongrojna is a Bangkok-based artist who creates all kinds of awesome metal sculptures, based on popular monsters, using discarded parts from cars, motorcycles and bicycles. The 54-year-old owns four shops across Thailand, called Ko Art Shop, and exports his works of art all over the world.

You’ve probably seen more impressive Hollywood movie props, but unlike those, this impressive piece of metal work is actually rideable. I have no idea what bike this was initially, or how fast it is, but who needs speed when you’re riding a metal masterpiece like this, right? It’s hard to believe it was made exclusively from discarded metal parts…

Hot or Creepy, Maybe Both? Real-Life People Who Have Become Dolls !

Did you know about the 'Barbie Flu'? Real-life women (and men!) are converting themselves into living dolls by any means necessary. .Hot or Creepy? You decide...

Anzhelika Kenova: Russia
Anzhelika is a newer "human doll" on the Barbie look-alike scene. The mid-twenty year old admits to having had plastic surgery with her waist reduced to 20-inches, and that's likely alongside an increased bust-line. It seems, a part of the incentive for these dramatic physical alterations is a worldwide recognition that it leads to financial gain and celebrity-ism. When put into this context the bizarreness of the trend begins to make sense. Or does it?

Justin Jedica: U.S.A
Justin's been tagged the Ken look-alike, and he now rivals the original Barbie look-alike, Ukarian Valeria Lukyanova. After meeting his counter part at a photo shot in NYC, he blasted her for being "a total fake". What?! Who's fake here? Evidently he decided to show-her-up by dressing in drag as a Barbie doll himself. Okay, now we're really confused.

Vanilla Chamu: Japan
It's quite popular in East Asia for people to undergo cosmetic surgery to enlarge their eyes. But wow, Vanilla Chamu's new look is extremely different compared to her "before" picture! Do her family members even recognize her today? It's said she's spent a whopping $100K and underwent 30 procedures for her "doll" transformation. Additionally, she claims she's not finished and won't be "content until she's a perfect 'French doll'".

American Model Aaron Bruckner
Germany's GQ magazine had Aaron modeling as a Ken doll, and he does have the "look" nailed! Notice how he strikes a pose with his hand gestures, it's perfect but kinda eerie, right? Apparently the illusion is the work of stylists, photography and photoshop. Check-out his modeling catalog, you'll be surprised as he's simply hot and not creepy at all!

Alina Kovaleskaya: Ukraine
Alina is another young gal from Odessa that has gained a following for her choice to look like a real-life Barbie! What is this fetish with Mattel's Barbie? Perhaps with parents encouraging daughters to play with the dolls, it's not too surprising they would want to bring "Barbie" aesthetics into their adult lives. Barbie's "look" has been blamed for setting unrealistic standards of beauty, could this odd phenomenon be taking it too far?

Valeria Lukyanova: Ukraine
She's one of the first to start the "Barbie Flu" contagion and has reportedly spent a half a million dollars on her physical transformation, which includes a tiny 19-inch waistline. Justin Jedica, the Ken look-alike claims her use of Photoshop renders her a "fake". But if it's a question about "self-construction" and "How real is the Internet?” then Justin himself, is not innocent. Perhaps Valeria's Internet personality and real life collides as she’s now dubbed the "Space Barbie", and coaches spiritual out-of-body travel and other "unreal" otherworldly rituals.

Transformers Fan Builds His Own Army of Robots !

All geeks love Transformers, but Yang Junlin of Huizhou, China, took his passion for the franchise to a whole other level when he opened the “Legend of Iron” factory and began producing his own robots.Check out :

Remebre that uber-cool Megatron Tank we featured a few weeks back? That was one of Yang Junlin’s iron masterpieces, but I had no idea he had created hundreds of other incredible metal sculptures. In 2006, after retiring from the army, Yang went to a concert where various steel sculptures were placed on display. Some of them were simple human figures created from twisted metal wire, but they made such an impression on him, that he decided to try and make his own steel works.

A year later, Yang Junlin opened his own factory, Legend of Iron, and hired over 10 workers to help him realize his dream of building cool robot sculptures. They use all kinds of scrap metal, from old car parts to simple sheets of steel andcreate some of the most amazing looking Transformers replicas I’ve ever seen. Although he admits his work is quite time-consuming, Yang has built over 1,000 iron sculptures since he opened Legend of Iron, five years ago, and isn’t planning on stopping anytime soon.

Can you believe these animals are actually real?!

The Shoebill

This species is also referred to using the names Whalehead or Shoe-billed Stork. The bird has a large shoe-shaped bill, hence its unusual name. The Shoebill lives in tropical east Africa in large swamps from Sudan to Zambia, and it is also known for its unique, blue feathers. These birds are quite large, and they can range in height from 110cm - 152cm.

Red-Lipped Batfish

This fish looks hilarious! The Red-Lipped Batfish is found on the Galapagos Islands, however you probably won't spot it swimming by any time soon! This fish uses its pectoral fins to walk on the bottom of the ocean. Perhaps it's embarrassed by its permanent bright shade of red lipstick?

The Venezuelan Poodle Moth

The Venezuelan Poodle Moth was only discovered fairly recently in 2009. Found in Venezuela, this strange looking creature has even become the subject of a popular meme! We think this species is probably the most adorable moth we've ever seen, and we can definitely see the resemblance to a poodle...

The Saiga Antelope

The Saiga Antelope is known for its extremely unusual, over-sized, flexible nose structure - a strange sight indeed! We think they're still incredibly cute though. The sad news is that these creatures are critically endangered and it is already completely extinct in China and southwestern Mongolia.

Crazy Tools Hammer by Paul Martus !

American designer Paul Martus creates furniture and products and unique metal works. Check it out.
Paul Martu’s designs are awesome. Take a look at Early Tools Hammer which features two bronze fists as the hammer head. He has also designed a “hand wrench” last year, check it out after the jump.
 I love this design, Cool!

A Look At Some Bad Tattoos That Became Awesome Tattoos!

A Dragon Was A Bad Choice
Dragons can make for a pretty epic tattoo. Apparently, however, that was not the case with this original tattoo. This woman opted to use the seed of her dragon to grow a flower which blossomed in to a great tattoo.

Don't Fear The Reaper
Ok so maybe getting a marijuana leaf on your arm was a bad idea. Getting the grim reaper to give the leaf the axe, however, proved to be a great idea!

Pin Up Girl
Are those skull cherries with a trail of stars underneath them in the top left? Yikes, makes you wonder what this girl was thinking with that one. Luckily there was a beautiful woman out there somewhere just waiting to be tattooed on this girl's torso.

Tattoos Are Forever You Know?
They say that tattoos are forever but they don't have to be if you get a really terrible one like the before picture shown below. Just because you have to live with ugly caterpillar doesn't mean it can't blossom into a beautiful butterfly.

Jimi Hendrix Lives
No one likes to admit they made a mistake when it comes to their tattoos, but from time to time it happens. By bringing Jimi Hendrix back to life this artist was also able to bury some horrible artwork.
